The short version: Sous does not collect, store, or share any personal information. Your recipes live on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We never see them.
Overview
Sous ("we", "our", or "the app") is a recipe-saving app for iOS developed by Calvera HQ. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Sous.
We've designed Sous to work without collecting personal data. There are no accounts to create, no servers storing your recipes, and no personal information transmitted to us.
Data We Do Not Collect
Sous does not collect or have access to:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- The recipes you save or any content you create in the app
- Your location
- Your browsing history or the URLs of videos you share to Sous
- Payment information (all purchases are handled entirely by Apple)
Your Recipes & iCloud
Recipes you save in Sous are stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced through your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. This sync happens directly between your devices — your recipe data is never routed through or stored on our servers.
Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple Analytics
Sous uses Apple's built-in analytics tools, which you can opt in or out of via your iPhone's privacy settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements).
If you've opted in to share analytics with app developers, Apple may share aggregated, anonymised usage data with us — such as app crash reports and general performance metrics. This data cannot identify you personally and is used solely to improve app stability.
We do not use any other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Purchases
The one-time unlock purchase for Sous is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. All billing inquiries should be directed to Apple.
Children's Privacy
Sous does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no personal data, there is no special handling required for younger users.

Service Availability
Sous uses third-party AI services to extract recipe information from shared links. While we are committed to providing a reliable experience, the availability and functionality of this feature may be modified, limited, or discontinued at any time without prior notice due to factors outside our control, including but not limited to changes in third-party service pricing, availability, or terms of use. In the event that AI-powered recipe extraction is modified or discontinued, any recipes already saved to your account will remain accessible. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes to core app functionality. Your one-time purchase grants you access to Sous and its features as they exist at the time of purchase. We do not guarantee the indefinite availability of any specific feature.
